A Message from our District Commissioner, Jon Minshull:
Welcome to the September edition of Wyred filled with updates from Wyre Scouts. On 19th October we will be holding our first face to face All Members Meeting for the first time since 2020 and I am looking forward to seeing many of you there. Thank you for all that you do to support the young people of Wyre, you’re offering amazing opportunities for our young people to gain skills and experiences through truly incredible activities every night of the week.

Wyre Scouts AGM Reflection:
A huge thank you to everyone who attended this year’s Wyre Scouts AGM, it was great to look back on the past year and celebrate the achievements of our young people and volunteers!
Also, after over 20 years as a trustee, David Simpson, our Treasurer has stepped down from his role. We would like to thank David for all the vital work he’s done over the years for Wyre Scouts!

All Member’s Meeting – 19th October:
We are beyond excited to be holding our first in person, all member’s meeting since early 2020!!!
We’ll be discussing all sorts from the future of Wyre in Scouting to how we can better support each of our groups. There’ll also be lots of chances for everyone to catch-up with eachother!

Wyre Lottery:
Did you know that Wyre Scouts is part of the Wyre Community Lottery? It’s an amazing way to support the work that we do, for just £1 a week, you could be in with the chance to win £25000!!!
RAF Lossiemouth come to Wyre:
Some of our Cubs and Scouts were incredibly lucky to attend an Air Activities Night attended by Slats and Stu, two pilots from RAF Lossiemouth (in Moray, Scotland)!
The Cubs and Scouts learnt about the challenges of being understood on busy radios and hearing under their breathing masks! The young people were also told all about flying at 1800mph at 30,000 feet!
We’d like to thank both Slats and Stu massively for coming all the way down from Lossiemouth to give the Cubs and Scouts such an amazing talk!
Minibus:
Have you seen the Wyre Scouts Minibus? The 17-seater Transit Minibus comes with a long wheelbase and medium roof height configuration, it also uses rear-wheel drive!!!
Our minibus is the perfect solution to your Scouting transport needs, whether that’s to camp or to an activity!

It is essential that you make sure your records on Compass are accurate and up-to-date.
If you’re unsure how to edit your details on Compass, please speak to your line manager.
Wyre Scouts Emails:
If you have a Wyre Scouts email address, or a West Lancs Scouts one, please make sure you are actively using it. Due to our agreement with Microsoft, after an account is inactive for 90-days, we have to delete it.

Badge Secretary and Quartermaster: Badge Secretary – Carla Addison
We have recently appointed Carla Addison as our Badge Secretary for Wyre Scouts! Many of you will know Carla from her other various Scouting roles. You can order badges via our online shop, here.
Quartermaster – Daniel Smith
We have recently appointed Dan Smith as our Quartermaster for Wyre Scouts! Dan is a Scout Leader at 2nd Cleveleys and has a wide range of experience with Beavers, Cubs and Scouts! Dan will be working with our lead volunteers to better store and look after our equipment!
