A message from our District Commissioner, Jon Minshull:
Welcome to the September issue of Wyred at the start of the new Scouting year! Its been great to see our sections starting to meet again across the district and thank you to everyone who is enabling young people to continue to have fun with a range of fun and exciting virtual and socially distanced face to face programme activities. Scouting is needed more than ever and hearing stories of young people seeing their friends again has been very energising – thank you!
Jon Minshull
District Commissioner
When considering face to face activities, please remember the COVID code:
A COVID-safe risk assessment has been completed and we have communicated control measures to volunteers, young people and parents and all are encouraged to raise concerns.
Additional hygiene measures are put in place
Social Distancing will be observed where possible (2 metres in England)
Maximum group sizes will be limited and determined by scouts.org.uk and members will be consistent where possible
Make adjustments for young people and adults vulnerable or affected by COVID, and consult to make sure return plans are accessible and inclusive

Contributing to our Social Media:
It’s been absolutely amazing to see our groups returning to face-to-face Scouting. When you run a face-to-face session, please send in any pictures to WyreDigitalMedia@WyreScouts.org.uk or send them to a member of the Media Team on Workplace. Please make sure you have permission to take and share pictures of your young people.
Social Media Feedback Survey:
A huge thank you to everyone who took part in the survey on Workplace. If you didn’t get a chance to fill out the survey, you can fill it out, here.
We are compiling a report from the responses, which are anonymous and this will be available in the next edition of Wyred.
We are also acting on the feedback as soon as we receive it. One thing that has been mentioned so far is to use more pictures of our own young people, which we’ve already started doing!
If you want to give any additional feedback, please feel free to email us. If you want a response to any anonymous feedback you’ve give via the survey, please email us and say what feedback you gave and we’ll get back to you.
