A Message from Our District Youth Commissioner, Luke Thornton:
Welcome to this month’s edition of Wyred and I hope you have all had a great few months Scouting as I have. It’s been lovely to see all of the Youth Shaped Scouting going ahead across Wyre and I look forward to seeing all the great things that we have coming up.
Luke – District Youth Commissioner
Vacancies:
1st Great Eccleston GSL (Deadline – 11th July):
We are searching for a new GSL at 1st Great Eccleston. This role will provide leadership and management at a group with a fantastic heritage and a strong passion for adventure. Role Description Nomination Form
Badge Secretary (Deadline – 17th July):
We are searching for a new Badge Secretary who will be responsible for processing orders in a timely manner, managing payments and our badge stock. This is an important role for the district as we look to reward our young people for the amazing efforts delivered through our fantastic programmes. Role Description Nomination Form
Quartermaster (Deadline – 17th July):
Our Assets Sub-Committee are searching for a volunteer to undertake the role of Quartermaster, responsible for managing and maintaining equipment owned by Wyre Scouts. Role Description Nomination Form
Scout Active Support Unit Manager (Deadline – 17th July):
The SASU Manager is a fantastic role, with the holder being responsible for liasing with the District Team, GSLs and the DC to support the delivery of the programme and events across the district. The SASU Manager is a flexible role and is a fantastic opportunity to develop skills and meet new people. Role Description Nomination Form
Network Go Go-Karting:
Our Scout Network have been gaining some more adult skills for life this month, by going go-karting as a Unit. They raced round a multi-story track at speeds of up to 60mph, seeing who could get the fastest time!
If you’re aged 18-25, and are not already involved in Network, email Gareth to join in!
Long Service Awards and Woodbadges:
A huge congratulations to those volunteers who have achieved their Woodbadges and Long Service Awards.

We’re always keen to show off the amazing things you’re doing with your sections on our social media channels. If you want to submit something, please email wyredigitalmedia@wyrescouts.org.uk.
In your submission, please remember to state whether you have permission to share any photos with us!
Media Team Promotional Sessions:
The Media Team are looking for sections to offer them the opportunity for them to come down to your section and gather photos and videos for promotional materials.
These sessions will allow us as a District to create localised recruitment materials using pictures of young people and volunteers from Wyre.
