In this edition you will find:

A Message from Jon Minshull, our District Commissioner:

Welcome to the first edition of the Wyre Scouts Newsletter, where you will find lots of useful information and hear about the great things that are happening in Wyre Scouts.

Congratulations to Liz Porter who was the winner of the competition to name this newsletter that will be arriving in your inboxes every two months. I hope that you find the newsletter useful and if you have any suggestions about how we can improve it, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

I would like to thank all of our volunteers for everything that they do. The last few months have been an extremely challenging time and we have had to learn new skills and move our programmes online. I have seen some massively inspiring and innovative programmes, ensuring that we continue to offer young people the chance to gain skills for life. Thank you!

Take care & stay safe,

Jon

This segment of the newsletter is where you show off what you’ve done since the last issue. We asked our groups and units what they’d been up to since the start of lockdown and here were some of the:

4th Poulton have been really busy having regular online meetings for all of their sections from the Beavers doing crafts, to the Cubs learning about navigation, to the Scouts doing a camp from home!

16th Fleetwood have had a Beaver Scout complete their Bronze Award during lockdown! What a fantastic achievement, well done!

Wyre Explorer Scouts and Wyre Scout Network have joined together for weekly Zoom nights filled with fun! They’ve done all sorts from scavenger hunts to quizzes!

2nd Cleveleys have been doing weekly online meetings for all of their sections, and they’ve been having lots of fun making shields for St George’s Day and planes for VE Day! One of their Scouts, Jack Spence, has continued his fundraising for his trip next year to the Asia Pacific Jamboree in Bangladesh. He’s been busy making woggles and little paracord people, both of which look awesome!
