Wyre District Scout Council

Local Grant Funding

Introduction

To help achieve our vision the District Executive Committee offers local grant funding. Groups, sections or individuals may apply for grant funding in the following categories. The capacity of the District to provide funds will vary from year to year, so a support grant should not be assumed until formal confirmation is given.

Scouting for All Fund

The ‘Scouting for All’ Fund is a discretionary fund to promote inclusion and provides support to individuals who, for financial reasons, would otherwise be unable to fully participate in Scouting and who have little or no recourse to other sources of financial assistance. It also offers support to groups that wish to provide resources or facilities for members with additional needs.

Eligibility

Any member of the District experiencing financial hardship is eligible to apply for funding to support a specific activity or event. This grant is available to any person or family with low income.
Given the sensitivity of the circumstances and the aim to be as inclusive as possible it is not necessary for an applicant to provide proof.

Funding

Funding will vary depending upon the nature of the activity, event or support, up to a maximum of
£100 per applicant.

International Fund

The international fund is a discretionary fund available to provide support for:

  • Individual youth members (up to and including age 17) representing the District on International
  • activities and events
  • Adult members (18 years+) where there is a clear benefit to the District and its youth members
  • either directly e.g., in promoting Scouting in Wyre, or indirectly through them actively sharing
  • their experience and developing cultural awareness

Eligibility

Any member of the District who is representing the District as part of an organised international
activity or event, excluding World Scout Jamboree (see below).

Funding

Typically, 10% of the event cost up to a maximum of £100

Development Fund

The Development Fund is a discretionary fund available to support groups engaged in specific
activities or events intended to increase membership. Examples of use of funding include:

  • Purchasing equipment for open evenings/recruitment events
  • New section start-up costs
  • Recruitment and promotional materials

Eligibility

Any group running a specific recruitment activity or event. An application to access funding can be
made here.

Funding

Up to £100 per group in each year.

World Scout Jamboree Fund

The Jamboree fund is available to support youth members who have been successful in being selected
to represent the District at the World Scout Jamboree.

Eligibility

Selection as a youth participant through the County WSJ contingent selection process.

Funding

Grant funding is, typically, up to one third of the cost of the Jamboree. Grant funds are allocated
for
up to three youth members at each WSJ.
