Home News Letter from Neil

Dear Wyre Scouters and Supporters,

Thank you for your incredibly generous donations to my parting gift. I felt incredibly honoured to receive it.

I thought long and hard over how to use it, and have ended up purchasing a Garmin GPS (Global Positioning System, NOT Grass Positioning System) and some areas of Memory Map software, neither of which I would have bought in the normal scheme of things – but both of which are already proving useful and interesting. To me this makes it a true "present" and something that will remind me of Wyre and my time as DC each time I use it. Thank You.

It was great to see you all on St George's Day parade - it felt good to get back to my natural position in Scouting.

As you will realise, I am still around - and likely to be so at least until the end of July, at which point I am currently planning on fitting in 3 weeks hill walking on various Scout camps during August before hopefully finding a new job in early September - which may take me who knows where in the country. Of course, having been extended twice there is always the possibility of a further extension - but that is for the future. In Scouting terms, Ian Porteous and Carl Hankinson are managing to find small jobs to keep me occupied and stop me from getting bored, but more importantly, ones that won't leave a gaping hole if I do have to move away.

Once more, thank you very much for your generosity, help and support.

Yours in Scouting

Neil Roberts ex-DC now DSL.
